2016: Behind The Scenes | L.A.R. Weddings
I had to make some hard decisions in 2016 (like saying goodbye to Lumin), but learned that pursuing a career doing something you love is worth it, every time.
I met the BEST people, ate a ton of wedding cookies, shot at amazing new venues (I’m looking at you Walden Inn), and even got to bring Enzo to a shoot!
I climbed some trees, hid in a lot of shrubbery, finally purchased a step stool (in hopes that next year’s BTS post will feature less of me on my tippy toes!), and discovered that I work better in dresses (I should say dress, because I wore the same one a LOT. Don’t judge!).
I had some good luck and some bad luck, but more good luck than bad luck! I dropped my camera TWICE…but it didn’t break, had very few rainy days, and didn't fall in any rivers or lakes (knock on wood). Here's to hoping that carries over to 2017!
Thank you to all the couples who trusted us to capture such an important day! I've collected so many beautiful photos working with all of you, and I hope we'll see each other again soon! (e.g. start making babies so you have a reason to call me!).
XOXO- Lindsey
Any time I am close to water I always think to myself that if I fall in, I'll throw the camera and hope someone catches it. Better chance it survives that than a dip in a frozen Lake Erie, right?
I don't always make the smartest choices. Like sitting in the middle of the road in downtown Cleveland. If you're wondering if it was worth it, it was!
I do some weird things
Whitney makes some weird faces
That time we all got caught in the rain
And then, because we were rushing to beat the rain, I just starting pushing heads together.
Sara, second shooter and official dress carrier.
She also really loves the Youngstown Cookie Table (she's from Cleveland)
An oh so serious Carlyn
The dress I wore all year
Believe it or not, I'm pretty accurate shooting like this
Whitney used to be a ballerina. Look at that pointed toe!
Veil master.
We didn't plan this.
Not sure why I needed to hold my arm out! Weirdo.
The curious case of the levitating camera...
Now lean back!
So graceful!
Whitney, contemplating life?
When you're early and have pretty assistants with you.
Mike is bored waiting for me to finish straightening all the little details. Sorry Mike!! It's the OCD in me!
Bahaha. Sara, over it.
The day I learned that although this bag is pretty, it is NOT easy to use.
And this is the day I learned that in my adult life, carousels make me dizzy.
Remember what I said about standing in shrubbery?
I hide in trees a lot, too.
or climb them!
I wish I was a little bit taller.
Never have to stop to smell the roses if you just carry them!
Caught in the act #veiltoss
One of my favorite bridal party shots to get.
Ok, last one!
Favorite face of 2016!
Arranging the dress is a big part of the assistant photographer's job.
So squinty in the harsh light!
Whit posing with the supermoon.
The only time it's okay to photobomb the photographer!
That time Sara met the cake 4x her size.
That time I wore a bear hat in an attempt to make little kids like me.
Let's be real, I'm probably taking just as many pictures of the cows as I am of the B&G
I ended the year with a Christmas wedding full of twinkle lights and snow!
